The Money, Macroeconomic and Finance Research Group (MMFG) was established by the Financial Markets Dealers Association to promote closer interaction between practitioners in the Nigerian money market and researchers on monetary economics/finance. The group was established in the quest of the FMDA to become a source of up-to-date facts about the Nigerian Economy and also gain more prominence in shaping ideas on topical macro-financial issues in Nigeria as part of its Vision 2006.
The idea is for members to give succinct expressions to all the fundamental issues and relationships in the Nigerian money market. The Group will therefore:
- Clarify concepts about key economic variables such as interest rates, exchange rates, money supply, liquidity, inflation, etc.
- Collect, interpret, consolidate and discuss data on the different economic variables.
- Model, interpret, and discuss the relationships among the variables
- In the long run, build more complex models of the economy
- Respond to specific issues referred to it by the Association, any of its members or associates, at home or abroad.
- Advise the Association on how to build and maintain a macro-economic database.
