The Association’s major effort at instilling ethical standard of conduct and professionalism was reflected through the introduction of a Code of Conduct. The Code of Conduct is the hub of the Association’s attempt at ensuring effective self-regulation consistent with the laws and operations of supervisory authorities as well as international best practices.
The Code of Conduct is administered by the Association’s Code of Conduct Committee, which has applied the Code decisively to date. It was also with the Code that the inter-bank market was successfully revived after the financial crises of the 1990s.
With the revival of the inter-bank market, the Association was confronted with new challenges as it had to play catch-up with other markets in terms of new products, processes and procedures for treasury dealing/activities.
To its credit, the Association’s response was quite remarkable.
